Big Picture Philadelphia is involved in two primary activities in order to bring innovation and reform to Philadelphia’s current educational system:
Within both activities, we emphasize and implement the same approach: student-centered learning within an intimate family-like environment, involving significant exposure to real world opportunities outside the classroom.
Since opening in 2009, BPP has supported a handful of schools and programs with implementing the Big Picture model, a student-centered model. Currently, BPP is providing support to the following schools and programs: MetEast High School (Camden, NJ), El Centro de Estudiantes (Kensington), Achieving Success: GED to College (Kensington) and the E3 Center (programming for out-of-school youth in Eastern North Philadelphia). In the past, we have also provided support to Congreso’s Proyecto Renacer (Welfare-to-Work Career Readiness Program) and Philadelphia Academies.
