Tiffaney has extensive experience and education in project-based learning methods, curriculum development, and post-secondary services. She began her career In Kentucky, developing a 9th grade accelerated school program for under-credited youth and went on to work as a guidance counselor and academic advisor. She holds a Master's Degree in Secondary Counseling, a Rank I (15 credits above a masters degree) in Curriculum and Instruction, and a Specialization in School Leadership from Jones International University. She first came to Big Picture Philadelphia in 2010 as an Academic Advisor. In July of 2012, she became the Director of Post-Secondary Support and in July of 2013 became Big Picture Philadelphia's Co-Director.
Matthew Prochnow, Director of Internships and Post Secondary Supports >
Before coming to Big Picture Philadelphia, Matthew gained a broad range of education experiences in the Philadelphia area teaching in a public high school, providing one-on-one reading and math tutoring to low-income elementary and middle school students, and leading SAT classes. Matthew also taught in an outdoor education program at Awbury Arboretum and was instrumental in the creation of unique experiences like the "Dye Garden" and the "Bramble Tunnel." Teaching in such diverse environments helped Matthew understand his own educational philosophy and sparked his interest in creating open yet supportive educational models. Matthew holds a Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Temple University and joined Big Picture Philadelphia in 2009 as a Founding Advisor at el Centro de Estudiantes in order to put his educational philosophy to work. In 2013 he became the Director of Internships and Post-Secondary Supports. In this role, Matthew builds programming and works directly with students to develop workplace readiness skills and guides students on a path towards high school graduation and a post-secondary program.
Laura has a strong background in non-profit administration and management, including fundraising, organizational development and strategic planning. As an independent grant writer and fundraising consultant, Laura helps organizations identify funders, build relationships and communicate strengths. During her 15 years of non-profit experience, she has supported growth efforts of several Boston and Philadelphia based community service and education programs through effective prospect research, grant writing, and project management services. Laura holds a Master's Degree in Social Work from University of Michigan with additional coursework in Fundraising Principles and Board Development.
