We are hiring at El Centro!
Big Picture schools have a selective recruitment process because we expect advisors to make dramatic, measurable gains not just in student achievement, but in a student’s life. The challenges that today’s young adults face are enormous and very personal. That’s why we focus on educating one student at time. And that’s why we seek candidates whose philosophy and real-life experiences match nine important hiring principles, which include:
  1. Strong instructional leadership and team management skills
  2. A belief that students should be at the center of their own learning
  3. The expectations that all students will be prepared for post-secondary mobility
  4. The ability to build deep relationships with students and peers
  5. Strong convictions for your own personal and professional beliefs
  6. The pursuit of a variety of interests beyond education
  7. The ability to lead, influence, and motivate others
  8. A track record of resourcefulness and being solution-oriented
  9. Demonstrated ambition and longevity in personal and professional pursuits

Advisor (El Centro)
The Advisor is the student’s primary instructor for the majority of their El Centro school career. An advisor works with a group of 18 diverse learners and supports each student on their course of study using their interests, needs, goals, and passions. The advisor must work with a variety of adults (staff in the school, family members, social workers, workplace mentors, etc.) to build, develop, and support the student’s learning. Advisors are the linchpins of a student’s educational experience at El Centro. Read more here!
